or cancel the annual rental to an extent commensurate with the area
still under lease.
(2) On any lands leased in Charles County waters for the pur-
pose of the cultivation of oysters, where the lessee or his agent
does not seed with oysters within a period of three years, said
lease shall terminate.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 712A(f)
of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Natural Resources," subtitle "Oysters and
Clams," to lengthen the season for taking hard-shell clams by
dredge in certain waters.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 712A(f) of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1967 Replacement Volume), title "Natural Resources,"
subtitle "Oysters and Clams," be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
712A.
(f) The season for taking hard-shell clams by dredge under this
section extends from [October] September 4- 15 in each year to
[April 30] May 31 of the year following, both dates inclusive.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.
SEC. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THIS ACT
IS HEREBY DECLARED TO BE AN EMERGENCY MEASURE
AND NECESSARY FOR THE IMMEDIATE PRESERVATION
OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY, AND HAVING BEEN
PASSED BY A YEA AND NAY VOTE SUPPORTED BY THREE-
FIFTHS OF THE MEMBERS ELECTED TO EACH OF THE TWO
HOUSES OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, THE SAME SHALL
TAKE EFFECT FROM THE DATE OF ITS PASSAGE.
