holic Beverages," subtitle "Beer, Wine and Liquor Licenses," and
to enact new Section 19 (d-1) in lieu thereof, to provide for beer,
wine and liquor licenses for hotels and restaurants in Caroline
County, to establish the fees therefor, and to provide for the hours
of operation for such licenses.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 19 (d-1) of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition and 1967 Supplement), title "Alcoholic Bever-
ages," subtitle "Beer, Wine and Liquor Licenses," be and it is hereby
repealed and that new Section 19 (d-1) be and it is hereby enacted in
lieu thereof, and to read as follows:

19.

(d-1) In Caroline County, bona fide hotels and restaurants shall
be entitled to serve liquors, wines and beers by the drink only and only
upon the premises thereof. On Sunday, sales shall only be permitted
between the hours of 12 o'clock midnight on Saturday and 2 o'clock
A.M. and between 12 o'clock noon and 12 o'clock midnight. The annual
license fees for such license shall be five hundred dollars ($500.00) for
six (6) week days and seven hundred fifty dollars ($750.00) for a
seven (7) day license.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.

CHAPTER 345
(House Bill 1020)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 255 of
Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replacement
Volume), title "Crimes and Punishments," including Talbot and
Kent Counties in the Section making it unlawful LAWFUL for
certain charitable organizations to conduct carnivals, bazaars and
raffles in certain Counties, and matters generally related thereto.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 255 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1967 Replacement Volume), title "Crimes and Punishments," sub-
title "Gaming," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

255.

Nothing in this subtitle shall be construed to make it unlawful for
any volunteer fire company or bona fide fraternal, civic, war veterans',
religious or charitable organization or corporation in Caroline, [and]
Kent, Queen Anne's, and Talbot counties to conduct or hold a car-
nival, bazaar, or raffle for the exclusive benefit of any such volun-
teer fire company or fraternal, civic, war veterans', religious or
charitable organization or corporation, provided that no individual
or group of individuals shall benefit financially from the holding of
