Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That new Section 230A be
and it is hereby added to Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1967 Replacement Volume), title "Crimes and Punishments,"
subtitle "Crimes and Punishments," to follow immediately after Sec-
tion 230 thereof, to be under the new subheading "Fraud-Welfare,"
and to read as follows:

230 A.

Fraud-Welfare

Whoever knowingly obtains, or attempts to obtain, or aids, or
abets any person to obtain by means of a wilfully false statement
or representation, or by the failure to disclose to the welfare agency
a change in household or financial condition, or by impersonation, or
other fraudulent device, public assistance to which he is not entitled
or assistance greater than that to which he is justly entitled, shall,
upon conviction, be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and said person
shall make full restitution of the monies unlawfully obtained and
shall be fined not more than one thousand dollars or imprisoned
for not more than three years or both fined and imprisoned in the
discretion of the court.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.

CHAPTER 313
(House Bill 833)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments, Section 379 of
Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replacement
Volume), title "Crimes and Punishment," subtitle, "Machine Guns,"
to change the responsibility of registration of machine guns from
the Secretary of State to the Superintendent of the Maryland State
Police.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 379 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1967 Replacement Volume), title "Crimes and Punishment," subtitle
"Machine Guns," be, and hereby is, repealed and re-enacted with
amendments to read as follows:

379.

Every machine gun now in this State shall be registered [in the
office of the Secretary of State,] with the Superintendent of the
Maryland State Police,
on June 1, 1933, and annually thereafter.
If acquired hereafter it shall be registered within 24 hours after its
acquisition. Blanks for registration shall be prepared by the
[Secretary of State] Superintendent of the State Police and fur-
nished upon application. To comply with this section the application
as filed must show the model and serial number of the gun, the
