(r) Prince George's County.—Notwithstanding the other provi-
sions of this section the County Commissioners of Prince George's
County in lieu of the rate of tax provided in subsection (b) above,
are authorized by resolution to adopt a rate of tax as follows: In the
case of instruments conveying title to property, the tax shall be at
the rate of $1.10 for each $500.00 or fractional part thereof of the
actual consideration paid or to be paid; and in the case of instru-
ments securing a debt, the tax shall be at the rate of $1.10 for each
$500.00 of the principal amount of the debt secured. The tax herein
above imposed shall be paid to and collected by the Treasurer of
Prince George's County, and paid over by said Treasurer to the
County Commissioners.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.

CHAPTER 302
(House Bill 789)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 158(k)
of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Supple-
ment), title "Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle "Boards of License
Commissioners," relating generally to the appointment of FULL
TIME liquor inspectors in Prince George's County and their status
as to the County merit system.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 158(k) of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1967 Supplement), title "Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle "Boards
of License Commissioners," be and the same is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
158.
(k) Prince George's County. — The inspectors appointed for
Prince George's County shall each have all the powers of a peace
officer or a constable or sheriff of the State of Maryland, and shall
make oath to faithfully perform the duties entrusted to them, as pro-
vided in Article 1, Section 6 of the Constitution of the State of
Maryland, and they shall furnish bond in the penalty of $2,000.00 to
the Board of License Commissioners of Prince George's County and
the Board of County Commissioners of Prince George's County
jointly, conditioned that they shall well and faithfully execute their
office in all things appertaining, thereto. The cost of said bond shall
be paid by the County Commissioners of Prince George's County.
The inspectors of Prince George's County, shall be known as "alco-
holic beverage inspectors for Prince George's County." The inspec-
tors shall have the duty of visiting and inspecting every licensed
premises in Prince George's County periodically and carrying on
such other duties as the Board of License Commissioners of Prince
