CHAPTER 271
(House Bill 642)

AN ACT to add new Section 602A to Article 27 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1967 Replacement Volume), title "Crimes and
Punishments," subtitle "Venue, Procedure, and Sentence," to fol-
low immediately after Section 602 thereof and to be under the new
subheading "Fresh Pursuit—Intrastate," providing that any peace
officer of the City of Annapolis, in fresh pursuit, may follow into
Anne Arundel County to make a lawful arrest.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 602A be and it is hereby added to Article 27 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replacement Volume), title
"Crimes and Punishments," subtitle "Venue, Procedure, and Sen-
tence," to follow immediately after Section 602 thereof and to be
under the new subheading "Fresh Pursuit—Intrastate," and to read
as follows:

Fresh PursuitIntrastate
602 A.

Any peace officer of the City of Annapolis, when in fresh pursuit,
may follow into Anne Arundel County and arrest any person or per-
sons for a violation of State law or a violation of the laws or ordi-
nances of the City of Annapolis, provided that if such arrest had
been made within the said City, it would have been lawful.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.

CHAPTER 272
(House Bill 646)

AN ACT to add new Subsection 38 (c) to Article 52 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume and 1967 Supple-
ment), title "Justices of the Peace," subtitle "Process and Prac-
tice," to follow immediately after Section 38(b) thereof, granting
magistrates for St. Mary's County the power to punish for con-
tempt of court by fine or imprisonment.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Subsection 38(c) be and it is hereby added to Article 52 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume and
1967 Supplement) title "Justices of the Peace," subtitle "Process
and Practice," to follow immediately after Section 38(b) thereof,
and to read as follows:

38.

(c) The Trial Magistrate and Substitute Trial Magistrate for
St. Mary's County shall have the power and authority to enforce
obedience to their rules, orders and judgments by attachments, and
