(b) Each notification shall be in writing on a form provided by
the State Health Department and shall include the date and type of
the test performed, the results of such test, the name CASE NUM-
BER, age, sex, and address POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF RESI-
DENCE of the person from whom the specimen was obtained, and
the name and address of the physician for whom such examination
was performed.
(c) The result of the laboratory examination does not constitute
a final diagnosis of syphilis or gonorrhea. However, it is an essen-
tial aid in the diagnosis of these diseases.
(d) The Commissioner of Health or his duly authorized agent,
will not under any circumstances contact the patient or the potential
contacts of the patient except by request or with the consent (written
when possible) of the attending physician, when there is an attend-
ing physician. Nothing in this section, however, precludes discus-
sion of the laboratory notification with the attending physician, by
the Commissioner or his duly authorized agent.
(e) All laboratory notifications herein required are confiden-
tial and are not open to public inspection.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.

(House Bill 227)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 431 of
Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replacement
Volume and 1967 Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles," subtitle
"Safety Standards for Motor Vehicles" to require motor vehicles
to be equipped with an odometer and speedometer.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 431 of Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1967 Replacement Volume and 1967 Supplement), title "Motor
Vehicles" subtitle "Safety Standards for Motor Vehicles" be and they
hereby are repealed and re-enacted with amendments to read as
follows:
431.
Every motor vehicle operated on the highways of the State shall be
equipped with brakes, steering, horn, door handles, tires, exhaust
system, lights, glass, windshield wipers, odometer, speedometer,
bumpers and proper wheel alignment, wheels, wheel lugs, fenders,
floor pans, hood and hood catches, and gas tank meeting the standards
therefor as fixed and determined by the Department. The Department
is authorized to promulgate such standards by means of rules and
regulations.
