cash fund. Then periodically, or as needed,
a summary of expenditures supported by
vouchers is drawn up and a check for the total
thereof is issued to reimburse the petty cash
fund. The total shall be entered as an expendi-
ture and broken down into the appropriate
analysis columns.

26-23.

(b) The court, upon the giving by the petitioners of such security
for costs as the court shall deem reasonable and upon such petition
and the affidavit or affidavits filed therewith, shall promptly order
such reasonable notice of such petition to be given to the defendant
or defendants, and require him or them, within as short [at] a time
as may be reasonable, to answer, show cause, or otherwise defend
as the court may deem just and reasonable.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.

CHAPTER 188
(House Bill 117)

AN ACT to add new subsections (f) through (j) to Section 98A of
Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, (1964 Replace-
ment Volume and 1967 Supplement), title "Justices of the Peace,"
subtitle "Trial Magistrates System," to follow immediately after
subsection 98A(e) thereof, to provide for the appointment of a
Chief Judge of the People's Court of Prince George's County; to
provide a per annum increase in salary to the judge so appointed,
and providing for the powers and duties of the Chief Judge.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new subsections (f) through (j) be and they are hereby added
to Section 98A of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Replacement Volume and 1967 Supplement), title "Justices of
the Peace," subtitle "Trial Magistrates System," to follow immedi-
ately after Subsection 98A(e) thereof, and to read as follows:

98A. Appointment of judges of People's Court of Prince George's
County; terms; qualifications; vacancies; substitute judges; practice
of law.

(f)    The full-time judge of the People's Court for Prince George's
County having the greatest continuous seniority as a full-time
People's Court judge shall automatically become the Chief Judge of
the People's Court for Prince George's County, and he shall be the
chief administrative officer over the other judges, both full-time and
substitute, as well as all court personnel of the People's Court.

(g)    The Chief Judge shall be responsible for obtaining and main-
taining uniformity of forms and procedures used in the People's
