This bill would authorize the Mayor and City Council of Balti-
more to create a debt in an amount not to exceed eighty million
dollars. The measure is a duplicate of Senate Bill 445, which has
been signed into law and is now Chapter 560 of the 1968 Laws of
Maryland.

House Bill No. 965—Baltimore City—Bonds
AN ACT to authorize the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore
to create a debt, and to issue and sell its certificates of indebtedness
as evidence thereof, to an amount not exceeding one million dollars
($1,000,000.00), the proceeds derived from the sale of the certificates
of indebtedness to be used for the acquisition, by purchase, condemna-
tion or any other legal means, of land or property, or any rights
therein, in the City of Baltimore, and for constructing and erecting
on said land or property, or on any land or property now or here-
after owned by the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, buildings,
structures or facilities to be used by the Fire Department of Balti-
more City for fire stations, and for the acquisition and installation
of equipment for any and all new facilities authorized to be con-
structed or erected under the provisions hereof, and for doing any
and all things necessary, proper or expedient in connection with or
pertaining to any or all of the matters or things hereinbefore men-
tioned; authorizing said municipality to submit an ordinance or ordi-
nances for said purpose to the legal voters of Baltimore City, and
providing generally for the issuance and sale of said certificates of
indebtedness.

Constitution, I have vetoed today House Bill 965 and am returning
it to you.
This bill would authorize the Mayor and City Council of Balti-
more to create a debt not to exceed one million dollars. The measure
is a duplicate of Senate Bill 443, which has been signed into law and
is now Chapter 559 of the 1968 Laws of Maryland.
