JOINT RESOLUTIONS

(Senate Joint Resolution 3)
Senate Joint Resolution requesting the State Department of Health to
develop reciprocal agreements with the District of Columbia De-
partment of Health concerning the inspection and certification of
suppliers of milk.
Whereas, Certain milk producers and suppliers in Maryland are
not permitted to supply milk in the District of Columbia; and
Whereas, These milk producers meet the standards prescribed by
the Maryland Department of Health for the sale of milk in Mary-
land; and
Whereas, These same milk producers are certified by the U. S.
Department of Health, Education and Welfare and currently supply
milk on U. S. Government reservations in the District of Columbia
and elsewhere; and
Whereas, District of Columbia Suppliers are allowed to sell milk
in Maryland if certified by the District of Columbia Department of
Health but the same courtesy is not extended the Maryland Suppliers
Certified by the Maryland Department of Health; now therefore,
be it
Resolved, That the Maryland Department of Health initiate talks
with the District of Columbia Department of Health to accomplish
a uniformity of standards and arrive at a reciprocity arrangement
for inspection and certification so that qualified Maryland Milk
producers and suppliers are not denied the privilege of competing
in other markets, and be it further
Resolved, That copies of this resolution be sent to the Governor
of Maryland, the District of Columbia Commissioners, the Commis-
sioner of Health of the State of Maryland, and the Maryland dele-
gation to the United States Senate and House of Representatives.
