CHAPTER 118
(Senate Bill 155)

AN ACT to add new Section 67-14A to Chapter 67 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Prince George's County (1963 Edition,
being Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Prince George's County," subtitle "Schools," to follow im-
mediately after Section 67-14 thereof, to provide that the Prince
George's Board of Education shall reimburse resident parents for
the expenses of their handicapped children attending special
classes or special instruction.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 67-14A be and it is hereby added to Chapter 67
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's County (1963
Edition, being Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland), title "Prince George's County," subtitle "Schools," to
follow immediately after Section 67-14 thereof and to read as follows:

67-14A.

The Board of Education of Prince George's County shall reimburse
any bona fide resident of the county for tuition for the attendance of
his mentally or physically handicapped child or children at appro-
priate special classes or special instruction for handicapped children.
The special classes or special instruction must be of a type not pro-
vided by the county school system and must be approved by the

Board. Any funds received by the parents from the State for this

expense shall be deducted from the reimbursement. SUCH REIM-
BURSEMENT WILL BE PAID BY THE COUNTY IN THE
AMOUNT OF ONE THIRD (⅓) OF THE DIFFERENCE BE-
TWEEN THE ACTUAL COST OF THE TUITION AND THE
STATE'S CONTRIBUTION.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.
