1478                             LAWS OF MARYLAND                         CH. 728

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 83A-12(b) of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince
George's County (1963 Edition), being Article 17 of the Code of
the Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's County,"
subtitle "Washington Suburban Transit District," and that Section
72-12(b) of the Montgomery County Code (1965 Edition), being
Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title
"Montgomery County," subtitle "Washington Suburban Transit Dis-
trict," be and they are hereby repealed.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That Section 83A-14(b) and
Section 83A-14(c) of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince
George's County (1963 Edition), being Article 17 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, the same being Section 72-14(b)
and Section 72-14 (c) of the Montgomery County Code (1965 Edi-
tion) being Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
be and they are hereby added to follow immediately after Section
83A-14(a) and Section 72-14 (a) of the respective Codes, and within
each respective county's Code to read as follows:

83A-14 (72-14)

(b)    The provisions of paragraph (a) to the contrary notwith-
standing, the County Council of Montgomery County and the Board
of Commissioners of Prince George's County may, in order to
satisfy their separate guarantees of the obligations of the District
under Section 13, levy any tax which they are now or may hereafter,
be authorized to levy and utilize any available revenues or funds and,
if any such taxes are levied or any such available revenues or funds
are utilized, the County Council of Montgomery County or the Board
of Commissioners of Prince George's County, as the case may be,
may reduce the number of cents per $100 to be levied against assess-
able property as certified by the Commission to take into account the
use of the alternative funds.

(c)    Nothing herein shall be deemed to be a limitation on the
power of either the County Council of Montgomery County or the
Board of Commissioners of Prince George's County to issue bonds
or other obligations, in accordance with applicable provisions of law,
for the purposes set forth in subparagraph (a) of this Section or to
satisfy their separate guarantees of the obligations of the District
under Section 13 or to levy taxes to discharge the obligations of
any such bonds or other obligations.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.
