Health Service Act in order to make corrective and clarifying
amendments thereto.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 566(a) of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1965 Replacement Volume), title "Health," subtitle "Hospitals
and Related Institutions," be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

566.

(a) The State Board of Health and Mental Hygiene is hereby
designated as the sole agency to represent the State of Maryland
for the purposes of [Part C,] Title VI of the Public Health Service
Act, as enacted by [Public Law 725 of] the [79th] Congress of
the United States, and all amendments thereof and additions thereto,
providing grants to states for the construction and reconstruction
of hospitals and related facilities. There is hereby conferred upon
the State Board of Health the powers necessary for it to comply
with the provisions relating to the sole State agency representing
the State of Maryland for the purposes stated in [Part C of] said
[Public Law 725] Act and all amendments thereof and additions
thereto, and contained in any part of said Title VI [of Public Law
725], and all amendments thereof and additions thereto.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.

CHAPTER 709
(House Bill 700)

AN ACT to repeal Sections 568A, 568C and 568E, to repeal and
re-enact, with amendments, 568B and 568D, and to enact new
Section 568A, all such Sections being part of Article 43 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement Volume), title
"Health," subtitle "Maryland Hospital Commission," to abolish the
Maryland Hospital Commission and to transfer the powers, duties,
and functions of the Commission to the State Department of
Health; to further provide that the Health Department shall as-
sume all obligations which heretofore were those of the Maryland
Hospital Commission and shall become a party to any contract or
instrument executed by the Commission, in place of the Commis-
sion and matters generally relating thereto.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 568A, 568C, and 568E of Article 43 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement Volume) title, "Health," sub-
title "Maryland Hospital Commission," be, and hereby are, repealed.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That new Section 568A of
Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement
