29. Attorney General.

The Department shall be represented by the Attorney General of
Maryland.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That subsections (3), (4), and
(5) of Section 212 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1965 Replacement Volume), title "Public Education," subtitle "Chap-
ter 18. High Schools," be, and they are hereby, repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

212.

(3)   Credit.—The State Board of Education shall determine what
credit, if any, shall be allowed to successful students of such course
[; and, except as hereinafter set forth, said Board shall, in collabora-
tion with the Superintendent of the Department of Maryland State
Police,] and shall prescribe the requirements of said course.

(4)   Cars.—The instruction cars hereinafter referred to, if used,
shall be furnished, maintained and insured by [the Department of
Maryland State Police unless] the respective boards of education
[make other provisions therefor].

(5)   Supervision.—[by police.—Actual driving experience may be
under the supervision of a member of the Maryland State Police
Force, in the discretion of the Superintendent of said force, in regu-
lar uniform, in an instruction car, and provision] Provision may
[also] be made for supervision of actual driving experience under
the local county or municipal police, or under a teacher.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That new subsection (c) be
and it is hereby added to Section 31 of Article 88B of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume and 1967 Supplement),
title "State Police," subtitle "Pensions," to follow immediately after
Section 31 (b) thereof, and that subsection (1) (c) of Section 53 of
said Article and title, subtitle "State Police Retirement System," be,
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, all to
read as follows:

31.

(c) Every police employee retired on pension under the provisions
of this Article shall be paid a pension determined by using his an-
nual remuneration, and all contributions made by such police em-
ployee to the pension fund of the Department shall be made from
said annual remuneration. "Annual remuneration," as used in this
Article, shall mean salary plus the longevity pay herein provided for.

53.

(1) (c) Any member in service who has attained the age of 60
shall be retired on the first day of the next calendar month after
attaining such age, excepting the physician of the Department who
shall be retired on the first day of the next calendar month after
attaining the age of 70 and those employees who were members as
of July 1, 1965, and had attained the age of 50 as of such date who
shall be retired not later than on the first day of the calendar month
next following the attainment of age 64. The provisions of this
paragraph do not apply to the Superintendent, or the Deputy Super-
intendent.
