Senate Bill No. 291—By Senator Byron.

AN ACT to add new Section 181E (1) to Article 41 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement Volume), title
"Governor—Executive and Administrative Departments", subtitle
"The Executive Department", subheading "Maryland Historical
Trust", to follow immediately after Section 181E (k) thereof, to
provide for the creation and administration of separate historical
trusts in the various subdivisions and regions in the State and relating
generally to the powers of the trustees of the Maryland Historical
Trust.

The President put the question: shall the bill pass notwithstanding
the objections of the Executive?

The President announced the veto was sustained by roll call as fol-
lows:

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Section 17 of Article II of the Maryland
Constitution, I have vetoed today Senate Bill 332 and am returning
it to you.

The bill, extending authority to the Governor to act on behalf
of the State and its localities in the implementation of the Federal
Highway Safety Act of 1966, is a duplicate of House Bill 498, which
has been signed and is now Chapter 253 of the 1967 Laws of Maryland.
