CHAPTER 88
(House Bill 718)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 1 of
Chapter 859 of the Acts of 1965 deleting one project and changing
the order of priority of public school projects in the law authoriz-
ing the Dorchester County Commissioners to issue certain bonds
for certain enumerated purposes.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 1 of Chapter 859 of the Acts of 1965 be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

1. The County Commissioners of Dorchester County be and they
are authorized and empowered to borrow at one time or from time to
time, upon the full faith and credit of Dorchester County, and to
issue and sell at one time or from time to time its bonds therefor, a
sum or sums of money not to exceed One Million Dollars ($1,000,000)
at an average net interest rate not in excess of five per centum (5%)
per annum for the entire issue, for the specific purposes herein
enumerated in the priority of enumeration and in the event that the
total cost thereof shall be less than the proceeds of such bond issue,
then, the surplus shall be used for the general purpose of enlarging,
redesigning, renovating, altering, remodeling, repairing, equipping
and landscaping existing public school buildings in Dorchester
County and constructing, equipping and landscaping new public
school buildings, and acquiring land and paying architect's and
other professional fees for any of the above purposes. Such bonds
shall be designated, shall be of such denomination or denominations
and of such type or form, of such periods of maturity not exceeding
Twenty-five (25) years, and shall bear such rate or rates of interest
not in excess of five per centum (5%) per annum for the entire issue
all as the County Commissioners of Dorchester County may by
resolution provide.

The proceeds of the sale of the bonds herein provided for shall,
subject to the provisions of Section 4 of this Act, and to the extent
available, be used for the following purposes in the order of priority
listed before any expenditure is made for any other purpose author-
ized by this Act.

1.    Addition to East Cambridge Elementary School—Two (2)
classrooms and corridor.

2.    Addition to North Dorchester Junior-Senior High School—
A music department (instrumental and choral rooms, library, prac-
tice rooms, instrument and uniform storage, toilets); art room and
storage; general purpose room (adjacent to present cafeteria).

3.    Addition to Hurlock Elementary School No. 2—Six (6) class-
rooms plus a library-classroom combination. Additional toilets and
storage.

4.    [Linas Road—Remodeled and Enlarged.] New three (3)
Room School at Taylors Island.

5.    Addition and Remodeling—Cambridge Junior High School—
Remodel and enlarge present cafeteria and kitchen; remodel and
enlarge present library and administration areas. Includes extra
storage.
