124A.

(a)  Doctors of osteopathy licensed under the provisions of Sec-
tions 467-480 of this article
AND RESIDENTS OF THE STATE
OF MARYLAND at the effective date of this amendatory act who
are graduates of colleges of osteopathy recognized and approved by
the American Osteopathic Association and have graduated there-
from in or after 1940 shall receive a license to practice as described
in this subtitle upon application therefor.

(b)  Doctors of osteopathy who meet the qualifications stated in
paragraph (a) hereof, except that they graduated from a recognized
and approved college of osteopathy prior to 1940, shall receive a
license to practice as described in this subtitle upon application
therefor accompanied by proof satisfactory to the Board of their
completion of a refresher educational course of a minimum of 38

hours of instruction in the various branches of the healing arts which
course is approved by the Board.

(c)  Nothing contained in this amendatory act shall alter or dimin-
ish the practice right of any osteopathic physician licensed in this
State on the effective date hereof, who does not receive a license to
practice as described in this subtitle.

129A.

Every person holding a license to practice medicine and surgery
in the State of Maryland is required to register as in this section
provided. The first registration is required before October 1, 1960,
and succeeding registrations are required at three-year intervals
thereafter. Each registration shall include the person's name, license
number, school of medicine or osteopathy of which he is a graduate,
year of graduation, office address, telephone number, and whether
or not he is in active practice. The registration shall be made on a
form to be prescribed by the Board, and must be accompanied by a
fee of five dollars ($5.00). The Board shall issue a certificate of
registration to each person who registers as herein required. Failure
to register as in this section provided is a misdemeanor, to be pun-
ished upon conviction by a fine not to exceed twenty-five dollars
($25.00).

139.

Any person shall be regarded as practicing medicine within the
meaning of this subtitle who shall append to his or her name the
words or letters "Dr.," "Doctor," "M.D.," "D.O.," or any other title in
connection with his name, with the intent thereby to imply that he
or she is engaged in the art or science of healing, or in the practice
of medicine in any of its branches. Any person who practices medi-
cine or the art or science of healing shall be considered as a practi-
tioner of medicine or surgery. As used herein the phrase "art or
science of healing" and the phrase "practice of medicine" shall be
construed to include: Operating on, professing to heal, prescribing
for or otherwise diagnosing or treating any physical or mental ail-
ment or supposed ailment of another; or for hire or gratuity or
compensation, either directly or indirectly paid, undertaking by
appliance operation or treatment of whatever nature, to cure, heal,
diagnose or treat any bodily or mental ailment or supposed ailment
of another; or for hire, gratuity or compensation, either directly or
