70-11. Personnel under Merit System.
All full-time employees, including Deputy Sheriffs, jail guards,
and jail matrons, appointed by the Sheriff or assigned to him by
the County Commissioners for Prince George's County, shall be sub-
ject to said County's Merit System as to qualifications, compensation
and other regulations, with the exception of [Deputy Sheriffs]
one administrative aide, who may be appointed by the Sheriff.
Deputy Sheriffs employed prior to, and still on duty as of, June 1,
1967, shall be subject to QUALIFIED AND EMPLOYED UNDER
said County's Merit System as to qualifications, compensation and
other regulations.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 120
124, 129A, 139, 146, 149 (a), (b), (c), (e) and (f), and 149B (b),
(c) and (d) of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1965 Replacement Volume), title "Health," subtitle "Practition-
ers of Medicine," and to add a new Section 124A to said Article
and subtitle of the Code, to follow immediately after Section 124
thereof; to amend the law dealing with the regulation of the
practice of medicine and surgery; to increase the size of the Board
of Medical Examiners by adding one licensed doctor of osteopathy,
to provide for licensure under doctors of osteopathy, to regulate
the manner of advertising of such licensees, and relating generally
to licensing of osteopaths in the State of Maryland.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 120 124, 129A, 139, 146, 149 (a), (b), (c), (e) and
(f), and 149B (b), (c) and (d) of Article 43 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1965 Replacement Volume), title "Health," subtitle
"Practitioners of Medicine," be and they are hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments; and that a new Section 124A be and
it is hereby added to said Article and subtitle of the Code, to follow
immediately after Section 124 thereof; and all to read as follows:
From and after [June 1, 1957,] the effective date of this act,
there shall be one Board of Medical Examiners for the State of
Maryland. [The Board of Medical Examiners for the State of Mary-
land, selected by the Medical Chirurgical Faculty of Maryland, shall
continue after June 1, 1957, as constituted on that date, with each
member serving for the remainder of the time for which selected.]
The Board shall consist of [eight] nine members [,] . Eight mem-
bers holding the degree of doctor of medicine who shall be selected
by the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of the State of Maryland
