of business, shall permit any person to register as a voter, or to
transfer, affiliate or change his registration subject to lie require-
ment of Section 19 of this article; provided, however, that the board
of supervisors of elections shall appoint two registrars as provided
for in Section 5(b) of this article, except that one shall be appointed
by the member of the board who shall have been selected from the
political party opposite that of the Governor and shall be removable
by such member of the board in his discretion. The boards of super-
visors of elections in each county or city may also in their discretion
set up such supplemental boards of registry as from time to time
they may deem necessary to aid and expedite the work of the per-
manent board; such supplemental boards shall consist of at least two
members, each of opposite political parties and shall be appointed,
one by the supervisors representing the majority political party and
one by the supervisor representing the chief minority party, as the
said parties are now or may hereafter be constituted in this State.

(b) In Somerset County the board of supervisors of elections
may provide for a year-round registration of voters in order to
provide opportunities for such registration, changes of affiliation,
transfers of registration, and other appropriate business of the
board. All such registrations, changes, transfers, and other business
shall be at the office of the board of supervisors in Princess Anne
on a regular basis of one day each week. Officers and employees of
the board are authorized to do such things as are necessary and
proper to carry out the provisions of this subsection, and the board
of supervisors may compensate any of its officers or employees for
this work a sum of money not to exceed twenty dollars ($20.) each
per day.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.

CHAPTER 357
(House Bill 1024)

AN ACT to add a new Section 19(a-l) to the Code of Public Local
Laws of Somerset County (1963 Edition, being Article 20 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Somerset County,"
subtitle "County Commissioners," to follow immediately after
Section 19 (a) thereof, authorizing the Board of County Com-
missioners of Somerset County to make additional appropriations
to certain organized volunteer fire companies in the county and
making provision for the amount of any such appropriations.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new Section 19 (a-1) be and it is hereby added to the Code of
Public Local Laws of Somerset County (1963 Edition, being Article
20 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Somerset
County," subtitle "County Commissioners," to follow immediately
after Section 19 (a) thereof, and to read as follows:
