said papers, records and documents, is hereby directed to transfer
the same to said Hall of Records Commission and upon making such
transfer, every such clerk, register of wills or other official is hereby
relieved from any duties or responsibilities in connection therewith.
(b) The Hall of Records Commission shall also be the official
custodian of all records of the court of chancery, including all ante-
Revolution papers formerly in that office, and all other records, books,
relics and memorials formerly in the custody of the Commissioner
of the Land Office, except warrants, surveys, caveats, patents, and
other records relating to proceedings for the issuance of patents.
Copies of all items so transferred may be made and certified with the
same effect as provided in subsection (a).
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That Sections 9, 10, 15 through
17, inclusive, 51 and 52 of Article 54 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1964 Replacement Volume), title "Land Office," be, and they
are hereby repealed.
Sec. 4. And be it further enacted, That Sections 171 through
181, inclusive, of Article 41 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1965 Replacement Volume), title "Executive and Administrative
Departments," subtitle "1. The Executive Department," subheading
"Hall of Records Commission" (as Sections 172 and 175 thereof
were amended by Section 2 of this Act), be, and they are hereby,
transferred to Article 54 of said Code (1964 Replacement Volume)
as, respectively, Sections 1 through 11 of said Article 54, and to
precede the existing Sections 1 through 8, 11 through 14,18 through
46A, and 47 through 50, all inclusive, of said Article which are
hereby renumbered, respectively, as Sections 12 through 51 57 of said
Article under the new subtitle "Land Patents"; and that the title of
said Article 54 be, and it is hereby, changed from "Land Office to
"Hall of Records."
Sec. 5. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
on June 1, 1967.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, subsection 37 (d)
of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Replace-
ment Volume and 1966 Supplement), title "Sheriffs," subtitle
"Compensation and Duties" to provide for an additional deputy
sheriff for Calvert County, his qualifications and salary TWO AD-
DITIONAL DEPUTY SHERIFFS FOR CALVERT COUNTY,
THEIR QUALIFICATIONS, DUTIES AND SALARIES, and also
amend the requirements for the present deputy sheriffs.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That subsection 37(d) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1964 Replacement Volume and 1966 Supplement), title
