the Sheriff to require said deputies to do and perform at any time in
any place in said county any service incident to the office of deputy
sheriff, which they may be by the Sheriff ordered to do and perform,
and such deputies shall not be entitled to demand or be paid any fur-
ther or other compensation for the rendition of any service incident
to their office than that provided in this section. The County Council
is hereby authorized and directed to levy and collect annual taxes on
the property assessable for taxation in said county in such amount as
may be necessary for the payment of the salaries and allowances as
specified in this section.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.

CHAPTER 302
(House Bill 839)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 319 (a)
and 321 of Article 93 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964
Replacement Volume), title "Testamentary Law," subtitle "Sales,"
giving the Orphans' Court for Montgomery County jurisdiction to
authorize and direct sales of real estate over the appraised value
of $15,000.00; and eliminating the limitation from Orphans' Court
of Montgomery County so as to enable it to proceed with the sale
of real estate appraised for more than $15,000.00.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 319 (a) and 321 of Article 93 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume), title "Testamentary Law,"
subtitle "Sales," be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
319.
(a) The orphans' courts of the State shall have concurrent juris-
diction with the several circuit courts of this State, as courts of
equity, with like powers to adopt rules and regulations, so as to
authorize and direct the sales of real estate of intestates or testates,
where the appraisal value of said real estate shall not exceed the sum
of fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000), and to conform and ratify said
sales in the same manner as such sales are confirmed and ratified
by the several circuit courts of the State, as courts of equity; provided,
however, that the orphans' court for Montgomery County shall have
jurisdiction to authorize and direct the sales of real estate of intestates
or testates regardless of the appraisal value of said real estate.

For the purpose of ascertaining the value of said real estate, they
are hereby authorized to reply on the appraisement of such real
estate theretofore or thereafter filed for inheritance tax purposes;
and if said appraisement should exceed the sum of fifteen thousand
