time it appears that some protection must be granted to adjacent
land and waters and that the entire subject needs considerable study-
in order that the interests and equities of all persons and agencies
may be observed and respected; and
Whereas, It is desirable that a Commission be appointed to prepare
regulatory legislation; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Gover-
nor of Maryland is requested to appoint a Commission as proposed
herein to review the problems arising from the harmful uses of
pesticides, herbicides and any other chemicals used to repel insects;
and be it further
Resolved, That the Governor is requested to name to the Commis-
sion representatives of each of the following: The Game and
Inland Fish Commission, the Department of Water Resources,
the Department of Chesapeake Bay Affairs, the Board of Natural
Resources, THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, the University of
Maryland, the Farm Bureau and Grange, Maryland Arborist Associa-
tion, Maryland Pest Control Association, Nurserymen, fruit growers,
vegetable producers, florists, chemical manufacturers, exterminators;
and representatives of the public, giving consideration to all geo-
graphic areas of the State in making such appointments; and be it
further
Resolved, That the Commission is requested to review any legis-
lation designed to regulate and control the problems identified by the
Commission and to prepare such legislation for submission to the
1968 General Assembly; and be it further
Resolved, That copies of this Resolution are sent to the Governor
of Maryland.

Senate Joint Resolution relating to the establishment of senior
activity centers.
Whereas, it has been demonstrated that the establishment and
operation of senior activity centers has proved highly beneficial to
the health and normal, active life of elderly persons; and
Whereas, these centers can provide information, referral, and
health services, as well as cultural and recreational activities, which
tend to reduce the physical and mental deterioration which comes
with age; and
Whereas, such senior activity centers can develop day care pro-
grams for the families in need of such arrangements for their
elderly members; and
