to provide that members of volunteer ambulance and rescue squads
must complete both basic and advanced Red Cross or equivalent
First Aid courses to be eligible for exemption from liability for
damages as provided in this section.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 149A (b) of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1965 Replacement Volume), title "Health," subtitle "Practi-
tioners of Medicine," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
149A.
(b) The members of volunteer ambulance and rescue squads
shall not be liable for damages as provided in subsection (a) except
for gross negligence, and shall have the defense provided therein,
except for gross negligence. In order to be eligible for the exemption
from liability provided in this section, a person must have completed
a basic and an advanced Red Cross or equivalent course of instruction
in first aid, and must be on active duty as a member of a volunteer
ambulance and rescue squad which (1) is a bona fide and permanent
organization, and (2) is organized and operated as a nonprofit group.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967 1968.

(House Bill 940)
AN ACT to repeal Section 37(c) of Article 2B of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1966 Supplement), title
"Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle "Local Licenses and License Pro-
visions," and to enact new Section 37(c) in lieu thereof, to stand
in the place of the section repealed, making it unlawful in Mont-
gomery County to sell, give, serve, keep or dispense any alcoholic
beverages, or to permit consumption thereof, on or in any prem-
ises constituting a restaurant, tavern, hotel, club, place of public
entertainment or premises open to the public other than as speci-
fically permitted fey law by law and to provide exceptions to these provi-
sions eleemosynary entities under certain conditions and to provide
special permits concerning alcoholic beverages to eleemosynary
entities under certain conditions A LICENSE BY LAW; AND TO
PROVIDE FOR A SPECIAL LICENSE FOR COUNTRY CLUBS
AND ELEEMOSYNARY ENTITIES HAVING A NATIONAL
MEMBERSHIP AND LOCAL BRANCH, TO PERMIT CON-
SUMPTION OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OF A MEMBER
BY SUCH MEMBER OR HIS GUEST AND LIMITING THE
HOURS THERETO.
