FURTHER ACTION OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY ON MARCH
15, 1969.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby

declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public health and safety and having been passed
by a yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths of all the members
elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the same
shall take effect from the date of its passage.

SEC. 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THIS ACT
SHALL TAKE EFFECT JUNE 1, 1967.

CHAPTER 746
(House Bill 775)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 40 (d)
(3) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957
Edition and 1966 Supplement), title "Attorneys at Law and
Attorneys in Fact," subtitle "State's Attorneys," to provide two
additional ASSISTANT State's attorneys for Baltimore County and
to provide for their salaries.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40(d) (3) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1957 Edition and 1966 Supplement), title "Attorneys at
Law and Attorneys in Fact," subtitle "State's Attorneys," be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as fol-
lows:

40.

(d) (3) The State's Attorney shall appoint eight assistant
State's attorneys; the salary of each of the assistant State's at-
torneys shall be no less than ten thousand dollars ($10,000) an-
nually, to be paid in equal biweekly installments. The State's At-
torney may appoint two additional
ASSISTANT State's Attorneys at
salaries not to exceed ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00) annually, to be
paid in equal biweekly installments.
The several assistant State's
attorneys shall perform such work as directed by the State's At-
torney, or as authorized by law.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.
