CHAPTER 744
(House Bill 744)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 37(c)
of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Supple-
ment), title "Sheriffs," subtitle "Compensation and Duties," to
change the salaries of the chief deputy and the deputy sheriffs
in Baltimore County, to create the positions of under sheriff,
deputy sheriff's matron and two ONE docket clerks, with their re-
spective salaries; and correcting an error therein.; AND FOUR
FULL TIME DEPUTY SHERIFFS AND TO PRESCRIBE
THEIR SALARIES.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 37 (c) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1966 Supplement), title "Sheriffs," subtitle "Compensation and
Duties," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

37.

(c) The Sheriff of Baltimore County shall receive an annual
salary of $12,500. He shall appoint a chief deputy at an annual
salary of [$8,500] $0,500 $9,000 and deputy sheriffs who shall each
receive an annual salary of [$7,000] $7,500 [each], and shall receive
such sum for necessary expenses as shall be authorized by the County
Council of said county. He shall also appoint an undersheriff,

who shall receive an annual salary of $10,000 a deputy sheriff's

matron, who shall receive an annual salary of $5,500 $4,500, and two
(2) ONE (1) docket clerks, who shall each receive an annual salary
of $4,000.
HE SHALL ALSO APPOINT FOUR ADDITIONAL
FULL TIME DEPUTY SHERIFFS WHO SHALL EACH RECEIVE
AN ANNUAL SALARY OF $7,000. The payment of such compensa-
tion and expenses shall be made from the general funds of Baltimore
County, in the same manner as other general county disbursements
are made.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.

CHAPTER 745
(House Bill 759)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 2 of

Chapter 640 of the Acts of 1966, extending the effective duration

of said Chapter 640 of 1966 which amended Section 701(a) of

Article 66C of the Code concerning the dredging of oysters.
