the performance of his duties or for services performed for or on
behalf of the board including representing the board in any appeal
from rulings of the board [, and the said board shall be authorized
to appoint a secretary to the clerk of the board who shall receive an
annual salary of not to exceed four thousand eight hundred dollars
($4,800.00) and to expend such additional sum or sums as may be
necessary, not exceeding two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) per annum,
to cover printing and other expenses]. [The board is further au-
thorized to employ, promote, demote and terminate the employment
and fix the salary of such other staff including technical, clerical
and other personnel as it may deem necessary.] The County Com-
missioners are authorized [and directed] to appropriate and levy a
sum sufficient to pay [the salaries of the personnel employed by the
board. The Board of County Commissioners is authorized to provide
the board with adequate office] for all expenses of the Prince George's
County Board of License Commissioners upon the submission of an
annual budget. In such budget, the salary of the members of the
board shall be approved as hereinbefore set forth; all other ex-
penses, including, but not restricted to, the compensation of the in-
spectors, the compensation of the administrator as limited herein,
compensation of other personnel,
WHO SHALL BE QUALIFIED
AND EMPLOYED UNDER THE COUNTY MERIT SYSTEM,
printing, supplies, and office space, shall be at the discretion of the
Board of County Commissioners for Prince George's County.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.

CHAPTER 741
(House Bill 684)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 108(16)
(a) of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Sup-
plement) , title "Justices of the Peace," subtitle "Trial Magistrates
System," to increase the salary of the Judges of the People's Court
of Prince George's County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 108(16) (a) of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1966 Supplement), title "Justice of the Peace," subtitle
"Trial Magistrates System," be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

108.

(16)(a) [There shall be two full-time] The full-time Judges of
the People's Court of Prince George's County [, each of whom] shall
receive a salary of [$18,000] $21,500 $20,000 per year.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.
