(c)    Provided, however, that for the basis of minimum payment
to teachers and of calculation of payments to the board of education
of any county or the mayor and city council of the City of Baltimore
for every teacher [, without a degree, the amounts set forth in the
schedules under subsection (b) of this section shall be reduced by
$200.00 except as otherwise provided in subsection (g)] holding a
substitute certificate the salary shall be $3,800.00.
And provided
further that for the basis of calculation of payments to the board of
education of any county or the mayor and city council of the City of
Baltimore subsections (d), (e), (f), [(g),] (h), and (j) of this
section shall be applied.

(d)    For the school year [1957-1958] 1967-1968 and thereafter,
any such teacher having charge of a two-teacher school, shall receive
$200 per school year more than the appropriate foregoing schedule
requires. A principal of a school, holding a [regular] principals
certificate, shall receive the following amount in excess of the
appropriate schedule required for teachers as provided in subsection
(b) or subsection (c) of this section for schools with the following
number of assistant teachers:

Two to five assistants ..................................................  $ 300.00

Six to nine assistants ..................................................      500.00

Ten to nineteen assistants ..........................................      700.00

Twenty to twenty-nine assistants ..............................      900.00

Thirty to thirty-nine assistants..................................    1,800.00

Forty to forty-nine assistants ....................................    2,100.00

Fifty or more assistants..............................................    2,400.00

And provided further that for the purposes of this subsection a
principal of a school with thirty or more assistants shall be employed
on a twelve-month basis. A principal of a school with twenty to
twenty-nine assistants may be employed on a twelve-month basis and
shall be paid $600 in excess of the schedule in this subsection.
