same, and shall receipt to his predecessor in office for the same, and
upon the appointment and qualification of his successor, shall deliver
the same to said successor, and take a similar receipt. Said Inspector
shall, personally or by a sampler or samplers, in this article provided
for, inspect all tobacco in said warehouse, but neither he nor any
other person appointed to or employed in said warehouse shall en-
gage in the purchase or sale of tobacco (except that he may sell
tobacco of his own raising), nor shall any person appointed to or
employed in said warehouses receive any gift or emolument what-
ever, either directly or indirectly, for any service in the line of his
duty other than his regular salary or wages; and any person violat-
ing the provisions of this section shall be. immediately dismissed
from office or service. [Each of said samplers, before entering on
the duties of his office, shall give bond to the Inspector with a surety
or sureties, to be approved by said Inspector, in the sum of two
thousand dollars, conditioned for the faithful discharge of his duties,
and the said Inspector in his discretion, may exact a bond from the
person or persons who receive and handle the moneys collected on
account of the business of said warehouses.] Each of said samplers
or any employee of said warehouse shall be covered by surety bonds
in accordance with the above said sections of Article 78A of the
Annotated Code of Maryland. Said Inspector shall have authority to
dismiss any and all appointees and employees in said warehouse,
when in his judgment, it shall be for the good of the service; and
neglect of duty on the part of any employee shall be cause for his
immediate removal by the Inspector or the Governor.
Article 48
58. Organization; compensation and bond.
(c) Bond.—[The members of the Authority shall furnish bonds
to the use of the State, in amounts and with corporate surety to be
approved by the State Comptroller, conditioned upon the faithful
performance of their duties under this subtitle. The premiums paid
for all such bonds shall be treated as an expense of the Authority.]
The members of the Authority shall, upon entering the performance
of their duties, be covered by surety bonds in accordance with the
provisions of Sections 46 through 50 of Article 78A of the Annotated
Code of Maryland.
Article 48
179. Bonds of chief inspector and deputies; provisions of subtitle
not to apply in certain counties.
[The chief inspector shall furnish a bond in the sum of five thou-
sand ($5,000.00) dollars and each of the deputy inspectors employed
and paid by the State shall furnish a bond in the sum of two thou-
sand ($2,000.00) dollars conditioned upon the faithful performance
of their duties and upon a true account of moneys handled by them,
respectively, and the payment thereof to the proper recipient.] The
chief inspector and each of the deputy inspectors will, upon entering
the performance of their duties, be covered by surety bonds in ac-
cordance with the provisions of Sections 46 through 50 of Article
78A of the Annotated Code of Maryland. The cost of said bonds
shall be paid by the State treasury; provided that the provisions of
this subtitle shall not apply to Caroline, Carroll, Calvert, Charles,
