17.

The Treasurer of the State shall count, examine, and record
all State of Maryland bonds and coupons that have been or may-
hereafter be redeemed and paid by the State fiscal agent and re-
turned by him to the treasury. Biennially the Comptroller and the
Treasurer, or their deputies, shall after verification by the State
Auditor, and in the presence of the State Auditor or his assistants,
cremate or burn all of said bonds and coupons which have been
returned up to the close of the last preceding fiscal year. The Treas-
urer of the State may, at his discretion, require the State fiscal agent
to render an accounting of all State of Maryland bonds and coupons
redeemed and paid by him, certifying that such bonds and coupons
were cremated.
Appropriate cremation certificates, attested to by
the State fiscal agent or by the State Treasurer, the State Comp-
troller, and the State Auditor, showing the amount of bonds and
coupons so destroyed, shall be entered on the records of the State
Treasurer, and copies shall be filed with the presiding officers of
the two houses of the General Assembly.

18.

The agents employed to pay the principal and interest upon the
public debt are hereby required, at least semi-annually, to account
for or
transmit to the Treasurer of the State all State of Maryland
bonds or
coupons they [may] have paid up to the time of [making]
such accounting or transmission.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1967.

CHAPTER 677
(Senate Bill 394)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 24 (a)
of Article 89B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Replace-
ment Volume and 1966 Cumulative Supplement), title "State
Roads", subtitle "In General", increasing from three thousand
dollars ($3,000.00) to ten thousand dollars (10,000.00) SIX
THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($6,500.00) the
amount of any construction project which may be accomplished by
the State Roads Commission without advertising such projects
for bids.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 24 (a) of Article 89B of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land, (1964 Replacement Volume and 1966 Cumulative Supplement),
title "State Roads", subtitle "In General", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

24.

(a) Bids in general; supervision; bond; check to be attached to
bid.
—The said Commission, when about to construct any highway,
