2.    The United States Army Corps of Engineers for the conduct
of shore erosion studies.

3.  The Soil Conservation Services, United States Dept. of Agri-
culture, in evaluation and application of vegetative measures for
shore erosion control.

4.    The Water Pollution Control Commission in the reduction of
pollution originating from shore erosion.

5.    The Department of Geology, Mines and Water Resources in
the conduct of overall geological studies of shore erosion.

6.    The Department of Forests and Parks in shore erosion con-
trol aspects of parks and recreation management.

7.    The Department of Public Improvements on the aspect of
shore erosion control.

[757.

This program of shore erosion will be conducted by the engineering
section of the Department of Tidewater Fisheries.]

758.

(a)    Matching [local] funds for shore erosion control studies.
Funds shall be provided by the State [in the annual State general
construction loan] to be used for matching [local] funds from any
source other than the State for shore erosion control studies, [to be
performed by the United States Army Corps of Engineers]. The
State's share of the cost of such a study shall not exceed [twenty-five
per centum (25%)]. fifty per centum (50%).

(b)     State's share of cost of shore erosion projects. Funds shall
be provided [in the annual State general construction loan] to pay
for the State's share of construction costs of shore erosion projects.
[The value of engineering sources provided by this section shall be
considered a part of the State's contribution. This section] The
Department
shall actively seek cooperation and cost sharing from
federal sources for eligible projects. Whenever [this section] the
Department
has designed a project and has estimated its cost, and
with assurance that at least [seventy-five per centum (75%)] fifty
per centum (50%)
of the cost will be payable from sources other than
the State, the Department [of Tidewater Fisheries] shall submit a
request for funds [in the State general construction loan,] covering
the State's share of the cost of the project or projects
supported by
[an itemized list of specific projects] an adequate description of and
justification for the project, or projects, or shall if a project is
deemed urgently needed submit such project to the Board of Public
Works for approval and emergency financing.
The State's share of
the cost of any shore erosion project shall be limited to [twenty-five
per centum (25%)] fifty per centum (50%) of its cost.

(c)  The State's share of the cost of any shore erosion control study
or project shall not be spent for any other purpose.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.
