receipt requested, one copy of the process with a notice of such serv-
ice, addressed to such corporation at its mailing address, if it has a
mailing address on file with the '[Commission] Department, or if it
has not a mailing address on file with the [Commission] Department,
addressed to it at its principal office, if it has a principal office, or,
if it has neither a mailing address on file with the [Commission]
Department nor a principal office, addressed to it in care of the Sec-
retary of State or the corresponding official of the State or place
under the statute or common law of which it was formed or is
existing, if known to the [Commission] Department [; and] .

[(b) (2) The court in which or the justice of the peace before
whom the matter is pending may order such continuances as may be
necessary to afford the corporation a reasonable opportunity to de-
fend the action.]

[94] 75C. Definitions

As used in [this subtitle] Sections 75A and 75B of this Article,
the phrase "corporation of this State" shall mean every corporation,
association, or joint stock company formed or existing under the
statute or common law of this State; and "Department" means the
State Department of Assessments and Taxation of Maryland.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That Section 99 of Article 23
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume),
subheading, "I. Stock Corporations", subtitle "Process", be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments and transferred
and renumbered as so repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
be Section 127C of said Article 23, subtitle "Miscellaneous", as
follows:

[99] 127C. Service of Notice

Any notice required by law to be served upon any corporation of
this State, or upon any foreign corporation required by any statute
of this State to have a resident agent in this State, by personal
service upon a resident agent or other agent or officer of such cor-
poration, may be served upon such corporation in the manner pro-
vided in Section 75B of [this] Article 75 for the service of process
under the same circumstances [in which process is permitted to be
served thereunder], and such service shall be equivalent to personal
service upon a resident agent or other agent or officer of such
corporation.

Sec. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.
