clerk of the Circuit Court the sum of one thousand eight hundred
dollars ($1,800.00) and such additional sums as the Commissioners
shall determine for the support and maintenance of the court library,
including the necessary expenses for books and library equipment;
and said sum shall be taken from the fund received from fines and
costs levied and collected by the trial magistrate in said county. This
sum shall be expended under the direction of the judge of the Circuit
Court for Carroll County.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.

CHAPTER 72
(House Bill 725)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 40(1)
of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact,"
subtitle "State's Attorney," to increase the salary of the State's
Attorney in Garrett County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40(1) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1965 Replacement Volume), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys
in Fact," subtitle "State's Attorney," be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
40.
(1) In Garrett County (1) the State's Attorney's salary is [three
thousand dollars ($3,000)] four thousand dollars ($4,000).
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of this Act
shall not be construed to extend or apply to the State's Attorney in
office on the effective date hereof, but shall take effect with the next
term of office.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.
