Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 17 of Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Motor Vehicles", subtitle "Administration—
Registration—Titling", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
17.
(a) The Department shall examine and determine the genuineness,
regularity, and legality of every application for registration of a
vehicle and for a certificate of title therefor and for an operator's or
chauffeur's license, and of any other application made to the Depart-
ment, and may in all cases make investigation as may be deemed
necessary or require additional information, and shall reject any
such application if not satisfied of the genuineness, regularity, or
legality thereof or the truth of any statement contained therein, or
for any other reason when authorized by law.
(b) The Department is authorized to issue titles without payment
of any excise tax or registration plates or cards without charge or
fee, to law enforcement agencies of the United States-; AND any
State or the District of Columbia. PROVIDED THAT SUCH STATE
OR DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA RECIPROCATES.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws or parts of laws,
public general or public local, inconsistent with the provisions of
this Act are hereby repealed to the extent of any such inconsistency.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.

AN ACT to add new Sections 55A to 55H, inclusive, to Article 100
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume),
title "Work, Labor and Employment", to follow immediately
after Section 55 thereof, and to be under the new subtitle "Equal
Pay for Equal Work", to provide that employees of one sex be
paid wages equal to those paid employees of the opposite sex
for comparable work in certain occupations, and that this act
be posted, providing for enforcement of this act by the Commis-
sioner of Labor and Industry, and providing for civil and criminal
penalties for violations of this act, all of said sections relating to
the payment of equal wages to men and women for comparable
work.
