Until a copy of the original contract, duly executed by both parties,
is filed with the ecclesiastical authority, no license to the priest to
officiate in the parish shall issue.
The vestry shall also have power, by and with the consent of the
rector, to appoint one or more assistant ministers on like terms, con-
ditions and provisions.
[This subsection is not applicable to the cathedral council inasmuch
as the charter of Trinity Cathedral at Easton provides that the bishop
of the diocese shall be the rector and spiritual head of the
congregation.]
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That Section 298 (d) of Article
23 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Cor-
porations", subtitle "Religious Corporations", subheading "Protestant
Episcopal Church—Diocese of Easton", be and it is hereby repealed.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.

AN ACT to add new Section 14B to Article 78A of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement Volume), title "Public
Works", subtitle "Board of Public Works", to follow immediately
after Section 14A thereof, authorizing the Board of Public Works,
under certain conditions, to acquire property and premises as an
historic landmark and provides for the manner in which such
property is acquired and for its possible control and administration
by the Maryland Historical Trust or by some private agency or
corporation.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 14B be and it is hereby added to Article 78A of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement Volume), title
"Public Works", subtitle "Board of Public Works", to follow im-
mediately after Section 14A thereof, and to read as follows:
14B.
(a) The Board of Public Works, acting pursuant to a formal re-
quest by the Maryland Historical Trust, may acquire part or all of
any property and premises which in the judgment of the Maryland
Historical Trust is an historic landmark worthy of public care and
preservation, by purchase or gift or by condemnation under the pro-
cedures in Article 33A of this Code with any funds available for this
purpose from time to time.
(b) Pursuant to the provisions of Section 181-I of Article 41 of
this Code (1965 Supplement, as amended), the Board of Public Works
may select the Maryland Historical Trust as the agency designated
