under contract an item, Section 5 (0) (2), in said Chapter 86 and
found on page 239 of the Laws of 1960, making available to the
University of Maryland the sum of $1,450,000 for the acquisition of
land for expansion of the Baltimore campus and assisting the Mayor
and City Council of Baltimore in defraying the costs of redevelop-
ment in the area in which any land shall be acquired for such expan-
sion, and for the acquisition of other land and properties for the
Baltimore campus (3rd step in campus expansion). There shall be
allowed an additional period of two years, beginning on the effective
date of this Act, for placing this project under contract. If this
project shall not have been placed under contract within a period of
two years, beginning on the effective date of this Act, then it shall
be deemed to have been abandoned and the other provisions of
Section 8, of Chapter 86 of the Acts of 1960 shall be fully effective
as to this project.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.

CHAPTER 558
(Senate Bill 302)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 12G (a)
and (b) and 12H of Article 14B of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1965 Supplement), title "State Boat Act", to change the
source of financing of projects in navigable waters of the State
undertaken for the improvement of the waterways and of projects
located within or to serve State parks and to relate generally to
projects within waterways improvement districts in the State.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 12G (a) and (b) and 12H of Article 14B of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1965 Supplement), title "State Boat Act",
be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:

12G.

(a)  Projects for marking of channels and harbors, and clearing
of debris, aquatic vegetation, and obstructions in navigable waters
shall be financed solely by the [State of Maryland] Waterways Im-
provement Fund.
PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT ANY FUNDS
AVAILABLE FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, OR ANY
GIFT OR DONATION, MAY BE USED FOR SUCH PURPOSES.

(b)  Projects for dredging of channels and harbors, and construc-
tion of marine facilities beneficial to the boating public shall be
financed [jointly] by the governing body and the [State of Maryland]
Waterways Improvement Fund; excepting only such projects and
facilities as are located within or serve directly State parks, which
may be financed jointly by the Department of Forests and Parks and
the Waterways Improvement Fund.
The contribution of the [State
of Maryland] Waterways Improvement Fund shall be limited to not
