Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
on June 1, 1966.

CHAPTER 518
(Senate Bill 359)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 120,
122(e), 123(a), 126(a) and (b), 129(a) and (b), 136 and 137
of Article 89B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Replace-
ment Volume), title "State Roads," subtitle "Bonds, Notes or
Other Evidences of Indebtedness," subheading "Bridge, Tunnel
and Motorway Revenue Bonds," authorizing the construction of
an additional tunnel crossing of Baltimore Harbor and requiring
legislation approval before other toll
facilities are constructed,
and amending the law relating to certain toll structures and the
use of certain revenue bonds proceeds within the State of Mary-
land.

Whereas, it is determined as a result of studies and reports made
by traffic and consulting engineers, as requested by the State Roads
Commission, that another tunnel crossing of the Baltimore Harbor
should be planned and constructed as soon as practicable, and

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 120, 122(e), 123(a), 126(a) and (b), 129 (a) and
(b), 136 and 137 of Article 89B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Replacement Volume), title "State Roads," subtitle "Bonds,
Notes or Other Evidences of Indebtedness," subheading "Bridge,
Tunnel and Motorway Revenue Bonds," be and they are hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

120.

In order to remove the present handicaps and hazards on the
congested highways in the State, to facilitate vehicular traffic be-
tween the different sections of the State, to promote the agricultural
and industrial development of the State, and to provide for the con-
struction of modern transportation facilities embodying practical
safety devices, the State Roads Commission is hereby authorized
and empowered to construct, maintain, repair and operate bridges,
tunnels and motorways (as hereinafter defined), including a cross-
ing (as hereinafter defined) across the Chesapeake Bay and Balti-
more Harbor, and improvements thereto
AND AN ADDITIONAL
TUNNEL ACROSS THE BALTIMORE HARBOR, and to issue
revenue bonds of the State, payable solely from revenues, to pay the
cost of such projects.

In addition to the presently constructed Chesapeake Bay Toll
Bridge, the Susquehanna River Toll Bridge, the Potomac River Toll

Bridge and the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel, the State Roads Commiss-

sion is hereby authorized and empowered to construct, maintain,
repair and operate an additional tunnel crossing of Baltimore
Harbor
and to issue revenue bonds of the State, payable solely from revenues
