(House Bill 1000)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 259 of
Article 41 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement
Volume), title "Executive and Administrative Departments," sub-
title "25. Department of Economic Development," subheading
"In General," providing that the Director of the Department shall
have tenure.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 259 of Article 4*1 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1965 Replacement Volume), title "Executive and Administrative
Departments," subtitle "25. Department of Economic Development,"
subheading "In General," be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
259.
The Governor, upon the recommendation of the Commission, shall
appoint a Director of the Department of Economic Development.
The position of Director shall not be subject to the provisions of
Article 64A of this Code [.], but once appointed he shall hold office
during good behavior. He may be removed by the Governor only
for incompetency, immorality or other good cause, upon charges
furnished him in writing and after opportunity for a hearing. Any
such removal by the Governor is final and is not subject to any
appeal. The Director shall be selected because of his known ex-
perience and interest in the development of natural resources and
tourist and industrial opportunities. He shall receive such salary as
provided in the budget from time to time. The Director shall serve as
secretary of the Commission, shall attend the meetings of the Com-
mission, shall be chief administrative officer of the Department and
shall have general charge of the work of the Commission, subject
to its orders and directions.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 302 of
Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Supple-
ment), title "Natural Resources," subtitle "Fish and Fisheries,"
subheading "License to Operate Nets and Seines," to specify the
license fees for drift gill nets.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland.
