by whatever name known, of every municipal corporation in this
State in those counties in which this subtitle is effective and the
mayor and city council of Baltimore City
have power by ordinance
or resolution to regulate the construction, alteration, repair, mov-
ing, and demolition of such structures within their respective limits.
Hereafter in this subtitle such counties and municipal corporations
are referred to as "county" or "counties" or "municipal corporations"
as the case may be. This subtitle is effective only in the counties of
Anne Arundel, Carroll, Cecil, Charles, Frederick, Harford, Howard,
Kent, Montgomery, Prince George's and St. Mary's and Baltimore
City.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.

CHAPTER 464
(House Bill 957)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 36 (a) of
Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Elections," subtitle "Permanent Registration," to provide
for the temporary removal of the registration forms from the
office of the Board of Supervisors of Elections of Carroll County
for the purpose of data processing, and providing that a copy of
the records remains at the office at all times for security reasons.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 36 (a) of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Elections," subtitle "Permanent Registration,"
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

36.

(a) The registration of voters shall be conducted as heretofore
prescribed for registration books, except that cards or loose-leaf
pages shall be used instead of books. When such cards or loose-leaf
pages have been duly filled out, and both the original and duplicate
registration forms have been signed by the applicant for registration
and returned to the board of supervisors of elections, the said original
and duplicate forms shall be filed in different filing cases or loose-
leaf binders. The original forms shall be arranged by precincts in
alphabetical order and shall constitute the precinct register for use in
polling places on election days. The duplicate forms shall be arranged
for the entire city or county, as the case may be, in alphabetical
order, and shall constitute the permanent office record of the board;
they shall not be open to public inspection except in the presence
of a clerk of the board, nor shall they be removed from the office
of the board except on order of court. Provided, however, that in
Carroll County said original and duplicate forms may be moved
temporarily from the office of the Board of Supervisors of Elections
of Carroll County solely for the purposes of data processing, pro-
