to such group, company, association or body corporate for the pro-
motion of and to be used for one or more of the objects hereinbefore
set forth, and not for the private gain of any member of such group
or organization; and at any such benefit performance, conducted
under the conditions herein prescribed, it shall be lawful to award
prizes in merchandise, conduct games of skill, to dispose of mer-
chandise and other things of value by auction or voting or by such
mechanical devices as are commonly designated as paddle wheels,
wheels of fortune, bingo, or other similar methods, and with or
without an entrance or participation charge or fee; nothing herein
contained, however, to be construed as to permit or authorize the
awarding of prizes in money, or to reward the winner or winners or
other participants in any such game or auction in money or tokens
redeemable in money or any merchandise the value of which ex-
ceeds twenty dollars ($20.00). Provided, that before operating any
such benefit performance, any such group or organization shall first
obtain from the [County Commissioners of Prince George's County]
Department of Inspections and Permits for Prince George's County
a written permit therefor, and, provided further, that such benefit
performance is managed and operated only by members of such group
or organization personally. Any person, company, association or
corporation operating, or attempting to operate any such benefit
performance in violation hereof, shall, upon conviction of such vio-
lation, be subject to a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars or
imprisonment in jail for a period of not more than one year, or both
such fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of the Court.

50-5. Games and races.

No person, organization, association, corporation, partnership or
group of individuals shall conduct a baseball game, football game,
motorcycle race or automobile race, to which the public is invited or
admitted with or without charge for such admission, operated for
private gain, without first obtaining from the [County Commis-
sioners of Prince George's County] Department of Inspections and
Permits for Prince George's County
a written permit therefor, the
fee to be one dollar ($1.00) payable to the Treasurer for Prince
George's County
for each permit issued for any one time, which fee
shall be used for the purpose of defraying the cost incurred, any
excess to go into general county fund. It shall not be lawful for the
[County Commissioners of Prince George's County] Department of
Inspections and Permits for Prince George's County
to issue such
license or written permit for any place nearer than five hundred
(500) yards from any church located in Prince George's County,
Maryland. Any person, company, association or corporation operat-
ing or attempting to operate any such performance in violation
hereof shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a fine not ex-
ceeding one thousand dollars ($1,000.00), or imprisonment in jail
for a period of not more than one (1) year, or both such fine and
imprisonment in the discretion of the Court.

50-6. Public dances.

(a) License. On and after July 1, 1929, it shall be unlawful to
maintain or operate a road house, restaurant, lunch-room, cafe, inn,
hotel or club for profit where public dancing is permitted more than
once a week in Prince George's County without first having obtained
a license from the [Board of County Commissioners of said county],
