costs, and he shall perform such duties as may be assigned to him
from time to time by the chief judge. Whenever a vacancy occurs in
the position of chief clerk, such vacancy shall be filled by some person
appointed by the chief judge without regard to the provisions of Arti-
cle 64A of the Annotated Code of Maryland. The person so appointed
chief clerk shall become a member of the classified service and Em-
ployees' Retirement System of this State.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1966.

CHAPTER 44
(Senate Bill 107)

AN ACT to add new Section 59 (f) to Article 17 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1965 Supplement), title
"Clerks of Courts", subtitle "Clerks of Circuit Courts and Supreme
Court of Baltimore City", to follow immediately after Section
59 (e) thereof and to provide for the filing of certain unrecorded
plats in Cecil County in a Plat Book to be maintained by the Clerk
of the Court and to restrict the purpose for which it may be used.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 59 (f) be and the same is hereby added to Article 17
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1965 Supple-
ment), title "Clerks of Courts", subtitle "Clerks of Circuit Courts
and Supreme Court of Baltimore City", to follow immediately after
Section 59(e) thereof, and to read as follows:

59.

(f) In Cecil County, if there is in existence an unrecorded plat
or plats showing a subdivision created prior to June 1, 1945, from
which a lot or lots have been conveyed and to which reference has
been made in a deed now of record, the owner or owners of the sub-
division or of any lot or parcel of land therein
OR ANY INTER-
ESTED PARTY may have recorded in a separate plat book to be
maintained by the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Cecil County, a
copy of said unrecorded plat or plats. Reference to said plat or plats
shall not in and of itself, however, be a "description of the real estate
sufficient to identify the same with reasonable certainty" within the
meaning of Section 5 of Article 21 of this code.
THE PROVISIONS
OF SECTIONS 60, 61, 62 AND 63 OF ARTICLE 17 SHALL NOT
APPLY TO THE RECORDING OF SUCH PLATS. THE PERSON
PRESENTING SUCH PLAT FOR RECORDING SHALL PAY TO
THE CLERK A FEE OF ONE DOLLAR FOR EACH PLAT
SO OFFERED.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.
