CHAPTER 350
(House Bill 771)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 479 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Harford County (1965 Edition,
being Article 13 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Harford County," subtitle "Sheriff," to provide that the
sheriff shall provide food for the Harford County jail and that the
County shall levy such funds as are necessary for the costs of such
food and the County Commissioners shall have the right at any
time to examine the sheriff's books and accounts.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 479 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Harford
County (1965 Edition, being Article 13 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Harford County," subtitle "Sheriff," be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

479.

(a)    The Sheriff shall furnish such food supplies in his judgment
necessary and proper for the support and maintenance of all persons
committed to the jail of said County, and the County Commissioners
of Harford County shall levy [and pay to the said Sheriff such sum
from time to time as they may deem necessary, for each prisoner
confined in said jail, to be paid to said Sheriff monthly.] such sums
as may be necessary to pay the costs thereof.

(b)    [All surplus funds remaining in the Sheriff's hands at the
end of each year over and above his salary and salaries of deputies
and other expenses of his office as may be approved by the said Com-
missioners and for the feeding and care of prisoners, shall be paid
over by the said Sheriff to the said County Commissioners, to be
used for County purposes; and the] The said County Commissioners
shall have the right at any time to examine and audit the books
and accounts of the said Sheriff.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.

CHAPTER 351
(House Bill 882)

AN ACT to add new Section 2-23A to the Montgomery County Code
(1960), title "Montgomery County," subtitle "Administration," to
follow immediately after Section 2-23 thereof, requiring the Mont-
gomery County Historical Society to submit annually to the County
Council of Montgomery County an audit of its receipts and expendi-
tures in such form as designated by the County Council.
