CHAPTER 338
(House Bill 490)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 32CA of
Article 26 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Supple-
ment) , title "Courts," subtitle "Circuit Courts for the Counties—
Court Stenographers," to provide a fifth Circuit Court judge for
Anne Arundel County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 32CA of Article 26 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1965 Supplement), title "Courts," subtitle "Circuit Courts for the
Counties—Court Stenographers," be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
32CA.
In addition to the [three] four Circuit Court judges for Anne
Arundel County, for which provision now is made, there shall be one
additional judge who shall also be a resident of the county. The
judges so provided for the county shall reside therein, shall be
selected in accordance with the provisions of Section 5, Article IV
of the Constitution of Maryland, and shall be subject to all the pro-
visions of the Constitution and laws relating to the fifth judicial
circuit and the several judges thereof.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 414 of
Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title
"Crimes and Punishments," subtitle "1. Crimes and Punishments,"
subheading "Murder"; increasing the penalty for murder in the
second degree.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 414 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments," subtitle "1. Crimes
and Punishments," subheading "Murder," be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
414.
Every person convicted of the crime of murder in the second
degree, or as accessory thereto, shall be sentenced to the penitentiary
for not less than five nor more than [eighteen] thirty years.
