on the effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act shall
take effect with the next term of office.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
January 1, 1967.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 3 of
Article 96½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Veterans," subtitle "Relief Fund," increasing
the membership of the Maryland Veterans Commission, the addi-
tional member to reside in Montgomery or Prince George's County
AND ADDING ADDITIONAL VETERANS ORGANIZATIONS
TO THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 3 of Article 96½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Replacement Volume), title "Veterans," subtitle "Relief Fund,"
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

The Governor shall appoint a Commission, known as the "Maryland
Veterans Commission," to be composed of [five] six SEVEN Mary-
land veterans, one of whom shall be designated by the Governor as
chairman. The additional members appointed in 1966 shall reside in
Montgomery or Prince George's County. The State commander of
the American Legion, the State commander of Veterans of Foreign
Wars, the State commander of Disabled American War Veterans, and
the State commander of Spanish War Veterans shall constitute an
advisory THE ADDITIONAL MEMBERS APPOINTED IN 1966
SHALL BE APPOINTED FROM THOSE AREAS OF THE STATE
WHERE POPULATION SO DEMANDS. THE DEPARTMENT
COMMANDER OF THE AMERICAN LEGION, THE DEPART-
MENT COMMANDER OF THE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS,
THE DEPARTMENT COMMANDER OF THE DISABLED AMERI-
CAN VETERANS, THE DEPARTMENT COMMANDER OF SPAN-
ISH WAR VETERANS, THE DEPARTMENT COMMANDER OF
THE WORLD WAR I VETERANS, THE DEPARTMENT COM-
MANDER OF THE CATHOLIC WAR VETERANS AND THE DE-
PARTMENT COMMANDER OF THE JEWISH WAR VETERANS
SHALL CONSTITUTE AN ADVISORY committee to the Commis-
sion, who shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor, without vote.
The members of the Commission as thus constituted shall serve
without pay; members of the Commission shall be paid actual travel-
ing expenses necessitated by their duties, when authorized and ap-
proved by the Commission.
