and Chapter 668 of the Acts of 1961, Chapter 639 of the Acts of
1965, Chapter 454 of the Acts of 1951, Chapter 483 of the Acts of
1951, Chapter 360 of the Acts of 1961, Chapter 340 of the Acts of
1963, and Chapter 499 of the Acts of 1965; to repeal Sections 532A,
536A, 542A, 548A, and 551A of said title and subtitle, as added
respectively by Chapter 642 of the Acts of 1951, Chapter 601 of
the Acts of 1951, Chapter 785 of the Acts of 1963, Chapter 329 of
the Acts of 1965, and Chapter 650 of the Acts of 1965; and to en-
act in lieu thereof new Sections 526-542 of said title to be under
the new subtitle "Police ^Department of Baltimore City," to stand
in the place of the sections so repealed, establishing the Police
Department of Baltimore City as an agency of the State of Mary-
land, defining the jurisdiction, duties, powers, responsibilities and
immunities of the Department and of its members; providing for
appointment by the Governor of a Commissioner of Police to direct
and supervise the affairs and operations of the Department, and
prescribing the term, qualifications, salary, tenure, powers, duties
and responsibilities of said Commissioner; making provision for
the fiscal requirements of the Department; providing for the ap-
pointment, promotion, probation, removal, discipline and griev-
ances of members of the Department and relating generally to the
Police Department, and Police Commissioner, of Baltimore City,
and to the management, affairs, and operations thereof.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 527, 528, 531, 536, 537, 538, 541, 542, 543, 544, 545,
548, 550, 551, 552, 554-558, inclusive, 561-564, inclusive, 567-572,
inclusive, 574, 575, and 579 of the Charter and Public Local Laws
of Baltimore City (1949 Edition) being Article 4 of the Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Baltimore City,"
subtitle "Police Commissioner," be and they are hereby repealed;
that Sections 526, 529, 530, 532, 533, 534, 539, 540, 546-547, 553,
566, 573, 576-577 and 578 of said title and subtitle, as last amended
respectively by Chapter 742 of the Acts of 1957, Chapter 273 of the
Acts of 1951, Chapter 189 of the Acts of 1961, Chapter 452 of the
Acts of 1963, Chapter 451 of the Acts of 1965, Chapter 267 of the
Acts of 1957, Chapter 431 of the Acts of 1957, Chapter 550 of the
Acts of 1957 and Chapter 668 of the Acts of 1961, Chapter 639
of the Acts of 1965, Chapter 454 of the Acts of 1951, Chapter 483
of the Acts of 1951, Chapter 360 of the Acts of 1961, Chapter 340
of the Acts of 1963, and Chapter 499 of the Acts of 1965 be and
they are hereby repealed; that Sections 532A, 536A, 542A, 548A,
and 551A of said title and subtitle, as added respectively by Chapter
642 of the Acts of 1951, Chapter 601 of the Acts of 1951, Chapter
785 of the Acts of 1963, Chapter 329 of the Acts of 1965, and
Chapter 650 of the Acts of 1965, be and they are hereby repealed;
and that new Sections 526-542, inclusive, be and they are hereby
enacted in lieu thereof, to stand in the place of the Sections so
repealed and to be under the new subtitle "Police Department of
Baltimore City," and to read as follows:
