CHAPTER 183
(House Bill 1172)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 275 of
Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Supple-
ment), title "Natural Resources," subtitle "Pish and Fisheries,"
subheading "Part 2. Tidal Waters," changing the season for the
taking or catching of snapping turtles in Charles County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 275 of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1965 Supplement), title "Natural Resources," subtitle "Part 2. Tidal
Waters," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

275.                                                                   

No person except bona fide residents of Charles and St. Mary's
counties shall, in any of the waters thereof except the Patuxent
River, take or catch eels, terrapin and snapping turtles, with a seine,
gill net, pound net, trap net, fyke net, eel pot, or any kind of net or
device whatever for taking eels, terrapin and snapping turtles. In
the tributary waters of Charles County no person shall take or catch
or attempt to take or catch snapping turtles [except] during the
period beginning [March 1] April 15 and ending May 31, both dates
inclusive, provided further that the use of hooks and lines and trot-
lines for the taking of snapping turtles in these waters is prohibited.
Any person violating any of the provisions hereof shall, upon convic-
tion, be fined one hundred dollars ($100.00) or sentenced to the house
of correction for not less than three months nor more than one year,
or both, in the discretion of the court.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby de-
clared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public health and safety, and having been passed
by a yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths of the members
elected to each of the two houses of the General Assembly, the same
shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 184
(House Bill 365)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 210(a)
of Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Supple-
ment), title "Motor Vehicles," subtitle "Operation of Vehicles
Upon Highways," to prohibit the intentional improper operation
of a motor vehicle on private property which is used by the public
in general and to provide penalties for violations.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
