Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That we urge the
Congress of the United States to authorize the Secretary of the
Army acting through the Chief of Engineers to provide for the re-
moval and destruction of the abandoned ships, hulls and pilings now-
located in the Potomac River and we further urge the Congress to
appropriate the funds necessary to accomplish this purpose, and be
it further
Resolved, That copies of this Resolution are sent to Senators
Brewster and Tydings and Congressmen Fallon, Friedel, Garmatz,
Long, Machen, Mathias, Morton and Sickles.

(Senate Joint Resolution 36)
Senate Joint Resolution requesting the Governor to appoint a Special
Commission to review the Wye Institute Report on the oyster SEA-
FOOD industry and to submit a report of its recommendations to
the State Legislature.
Whereas, Pursuant to Senate Joint Resolution 32 passed during
the 1965 Legislative Session and approved by the Governor of Mary-
land, the Commission was formed and rendered a study of the
complete oyster SEAFOOD industry of this State, including its prog-
ress and growth, actual and potential, and
Whereas, As a result of this extensive study there has been pre-
pared and presented a comprehensive report by the Wye Institute,
compiling the data, stating conclusions and suggesting recommenda-
tions to insure survival of the industry and promotion of its healthy
growth, and
Whereas, It is necessary in order to implement these recommenda-
tions and effectuate the growth of the industry to provide a Com-
mission to study and analyze the Wye Institute Report, and to report
on said document to this legislative body, presenting suggestions for
those laws, the enactment of which will be necessary to effect the
stimulation and preservation of Maryland's great industry; now,
therefore, be it
Resolved that the General Assembly of Maryland, Call on the
Governor of Maryland to appoint a Special Commission of no more
than nine persons, several of whom shall be members of this legis-
lative body COMPOSED OF MEMBERS OF THE 1966 GENERAL
ASSEMBLY, ONE FROM EACH TIDEWATER COUNTY AND
ONE FROM BALTIMORE CITY, to study the Wye Institute Report
on the oyster SEAFOOD industry, and to report its conclusions and
recommendations as a result of the study of the Report to the Gen-
eral Assembly at its 1967 Session, and
