168.

(A) FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE PEOPLE OF THIS
STATE, THE COMMISSIONER SHALL ISSUE, RENEW, CON-
TINUE OR PERMIT TO EXIST LICENSES ONLY IN COMPLI-
ANCE WITH THIS ARTICLE TO INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE
TRUSTWORTHY AND OF GOOD CHARACTER AND WHO HAVE
QUALIFIED THEREFORE BY STUDY PROGRAMS, EXPERI-
ENCE AND EXAMINATION AND WHO SHALL BE LICENSED
AND MAY CONDUCT THEIR INSURANCE BUSINESS AFFAIRS
IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SUB-
TITLE.

(d) [No license to act as agent or broker may be issued to other
than an individual.] Licenses may conduct their insurance business
affairs as a partnership or corporation provided THAT SUCH
PARTNERSHIP OR CORPORATION IS LICENSED AS AN
AGENT OR BROKER, IS PRIMARILY ENGAGED IN THE BUSI-
NESS OF SELLING INSURANCE AND SHALL FILE WITH THE
COMMISSIONER A BOND TO THE STATE OF MARYLAND IN
THE PENALTY OF TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS
($25,000); AND PROVIDED FURTHER that every individual who
solicits, negotiates, or accepts insurance business from the public shall
be qualified and licensed for the [lines for which he is to receive
compensation in accordance with the provisions of this subtitle]
kinds of insurance business he does with the public.

Any such partnership or corporation agency may be issued ap-
propriate agent or broker licenses and may be certified as a licensee
under this subtitle to the supervisory officials of any state.

The bond otherwise required of individual brokers by Section 170
(d) may be filed by and in the name of the partnership or corporation
agency, provided the conditions therein set
forth for individual
brokers are assumed by the agency organisation under the
bonds
An individual broker who does such business entirely through such
an agency organization may be excused from filing an individual

bond.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
November 1, 1966.

(House Bill 307)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 6(p),
12, and 119(h) of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Replacement Volume), and Section 108(22) of the said Ar-
ticle and Code (1964 Replacement Volume and 1965 Supplement),
title "Justices of the Peace," subtitles respectively "Civil Jurisdic-
tion" and "Trial Magistrate's System"; to add new Section 25E to
the said Article of the Code (1964 Replacement Volume) and new
Section 97(g) thereto (1964 Replacement Volume and 1965 Supple-
ment), subtitles respectively "Criminal Jurisdiction" and "Trial
