6.
(k) The judges of the People's Court of Harford County, here-
tofore the [Trial] trial magistrates of Harford County designated
as the People's Court of Harford County shall have civil jurisdiction
in all cases hereinbefore mentioned in this section, instituted after
January 1, 1960, and involving amounts not exceeding one thou-
sand dollars ($1,000.00) and instituted after June 1, 1965, and in-
volving amounts not exceeding two thousand five hundred dollars
($2,500.00).

In Harford County all [trial magistrates] judges of the People's
Court shall forward to the Sheriff of Harford County certified copies
of the docket entries of criminal cases wherein the defendants have
been found guilty of any crime other than a violation of the motor
vehicle laws, upon forms to be supplied to them by said Sheriff,
who shall keep a properly indexed record of said convictions; pro-
vided that no docket entries shall be sent to the Sheriff until the
possibility of appeal has ceased, but shall be sent within thirty days
after the expiration of time limited for said appeal.
In all cases reaching the Circuit Court of Harford County after
a hearing or trial before a [trial magistrate] judge of the People's
Court, it shall be the duty of the [magistrate] judge of the People's
Court to send to the clerk of the Circuit Court, in addition to other
relevant papers, certified copies of the docket entries therein with
names and addresses of available witnesses noted thereon.
[The County Commissioners of Harford County, upon recom-
mendation of the State's Attorney, are hereby authorized to deduct
five per cent of any trial magistrate's salary for the wilful disregard
of the aforegoing provisions during the period of noncompliance.]

The [magistrates] judges of the People's Court of Harford
County shall continue to exercise the criminal jurisdiction in all
cases heretofore conferred by law upon trial magistrates for Har-
ford County. Any statutory reference to trial magistrates shall be
interpreted as meaning the [magistrates] judges of the People's
Court of Harford County.

(c) Justices of the peace to whom this section applies include
(by way of enumeration and not limitation) [trial magistrates]
judges of the People's Court and committing magistrates in Har-
ford County.

(c) In Harford County the Governor shall appoint no more than
eighteen "committing magistrates" selected judiciously to serve the
entire county with a due regard for population and geography.
The committing magistrates shall sit at such times and places and
shall perform such duties as are assigned to them by the judges
of the People's Court. In the conduct and administration of their
