ter of Wills," be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
Article 93
186.
Once in each year, or oftener if required by the court, a guardian
shall settle an account of his trust with the orphans' court and shall
exhibit to the court the bonds, certificates of stocks, securities of
any kind, deeds of property, bank books of deposits or other evi-
dences of property belonging to his ward; and the said court shall
ascertain at its discretion the amount of the sum to be annually ex-
pended in the maintenance and education of the infant, regard
being had to his future situation, prospects and destination; and the
said court, if it deem it advantageous to the ward, may allow the
guardian to exceed the income of the estate and to make use of his
principal and sell part of the same under its order; but no part of
the real estate shall on account of such maintenance or education
be diminished without the approbation of a court of equity as well
as the orphans' court; except that in Montgomery County the addi-
tional approbation of a court of equity shall not be required.
228.
The Orphans' Court for Montgomery County and the Orphans'
Court for Prince George's County are hereby authorized, empow-
ered and directed to appoint one qualified person to be designated
as chief appraiser for said court, to hold office at the pleasure of the
said court, to appraise estates, all the goods, chattels, property,
real and personal, in every case where letters testamentary or of ad-
ministration have been issued by said court, and said appraiser
may be assisted by one other appraiser or appraisers as the court
may appoint and require, and said assistant or assistants shall hold
office at the pleasure of the said orphans' court; and said chief
appraiser and his assistant or assistants as the case may be, shall
each receive a fee to be fixed and ordered by the said orphans' court
in accordance with the services rendered and in proportion with
the estate appraised. And the said orphans' court is hereby au-
thorized to make and approve a schedule for the fees of the chief
appraiser and the fees of the assistant appraiser or appraisers.
Provided, however, that for the purposes of this Section, any refer-
ence herein to the Orphans' Court for Montgomery County shall be
understood to be a reference to the Judges of the Circuit Court for
Montgomery County in banc.
256.
The Governor shall, of the three persons elected judges of the
orphans' court in the several counties and the City of Baltimore,
designate and commission one as chief judge of his respective court,
and all acts of the Governor in designating one of said judges as
chief judge, and in commissioning him as such, and all commissions
heretofore issued by the Governor to said judges so designated and
commissioned as the chief judge of his respective court are hereby
ratified and confirmed to all intents and purposes as if this sec-
tion had been in full force when such designations were made and
