title "Justices of the Peace," subtitle "Trial Magistrates System," be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments; and that
Section 51(f) of Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957
Volume), title "County Commissioners," subtitle "County Treas-
urers," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, and all to read as follows:
255.
(e) Each of the judges of the Orphans' Court for [Carroll,]
Queen Anne's, Somerset, and Worcester counties shall receive the
sum of eight dollars ($8.00) for every day's attendance upon the
sessions of said court. The judges of the Orphans' Court for Wor-
cester County shall receive an allowance for traveling expenses of
eight hundred dollars ($800.00) per year. The judges of the Orphans'
Court for Queen Anne's County shall receive an allowance for travel-
ing expenses of $750.00 per year. The judges of the Orphans' Court
for Somerset County shall receive an allowance of ten dollars ($10.00)
for mileage for every day's attendance upon the sessions of said court.
(x) The salary of the judges of the Orphans' Court for Carroll
County shall be twelve hundred ($1,200) dollars per year to be paid
monthly.

(f) The Sheriff of Carroll County shall receive an annual salary
of [$3,000] $6,000 [and $2,100 to cover all the expenses of his office].
He may appoint such deputies as may be necessary for the proper
execution of the duties of his office, who shall receive such compen-
sation as may be determined by the County Commissioners of said
county.

(g) (1) In Carroll County, the State's Attorney's salary is [six
thousand dollars ($6,000)] eight thousand five hundred dollars
($8,500). The County Commissioners shall provide space for the
Offices of the State's Attorney and shall pay the expenses of the
office, including general operating expenses, cost of equipment, and
reasonable costs for secretarial or stenographic needs, or in lieu of
providing said space and expenses, shall pay over to the State's
Attorney a reasonable allowance to be determined by the County
Commissioners from time to time to reimburse the State's Attorney
for the costs of his providing the same for the operation of his office.
(2) At such time as both the State's Attorney and the resident
judge of the Circuit Court for Carroll County deem it to be necessary,
the State's Attorney, with the approval of the resident judge, may
appoint an assistant State's Attorney. The assistant State's Attorney
shall be paid such salary as shall be fixed by the County Commission-
ers from time to time.
108.
(6) There shall be one trial magistrate who shall sit at West-
minster and receive an annual salary of [thirty-six hundred dollars
($3,600)] sixty-five hundred dollars ($6,500). He shall be present
