Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 295 (a) of the Charter and Code of Public Local Laws
of Baltimore City (1949 Edition, being Article 4 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Baltimore City", subtitle
"Criers, Bailiffs, Watchmen, and Stenographers", as last amended
by Chapter 849 of the Acts of 1963, be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

295. (a) The Treasurer of Baltimore City shall pay to the Bail-
iffs respectively of the Superior Court of Baltimore City, of the
Court of Common Pleas of Baltimore City, of the Baltimore City
Court, of the Circuit Court of Baltimore City, of the Circuit Court
No. 2 of Baltimore City, and the Criminal Court of Baltimore City
the sum of not less than Four Thousand Five Hundred Dollars
($4,500.00) nor more than Five Thousand Two Hundred and Fifty
Dollars ($5,250.00) per annum, and to the Bailiff assigned to the
Jury Judge and designated as Jury Commissioner, a sum not less
than Six Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($6,500.00) nor more
than Eight Thousand Dollars ($8,000.00) per annum, and the Bailiff
assigned as Jury Bailiff and designated as Deputy Jury Commissioner
a sum not less than Five Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($5,500.00)
nor more than Seven Thousand Dollars ($7,000.00) per annum, as
determined and certified to by the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City
as and for their respective salaries at the same time and in the same
manner as is provided in the preceding section for the payment of
the salaries of the Crier of the Superior Court, the Crier of the Bal-
timore City Court, and Crier of the Court of Common Pleas of Bal-
timore City.

Every Bailiff, who after having served not less than twenty pre-
ceding consecutive years or shall have become physically or mentally
incapacitated from performing the duties of Bailiff from ailments
or accidents not resulting from his own misconduct, shall be entitled
to retirement with a salary of Fifteen Hundred Dollars per annum,
payable as other Bailiffs' salaries are now paid provided that such
retirement shall be evidenced by a satisfactory certificate approved
by the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City, directed to the Treasurer
of Baltimore City, advising him of the retirement of said Bailiff,
and that said retirement is in accord with the provisions of this
section.

From and after January 1, 1964, every bailiff (except as otherwise
provided in this paragraph)
who retires after having served not less
than the 20 preceding consecutive years or because of having be-
come permanently physically or mentally incapacitated from per-
forming the duties of bailiff from ailments or accidents not resulting
from his own misconduct shall be entitled to retirement with a salary
of $2,000 per annum, payable as other bailiff's salaries are now paid;
and every bailiff serving as Jury Commissioner or Assistant Jury
Commissioner, with the same conditions, shall be entitled to retire-
ment with a salary of $4,000 per annum, payable as other bailiff's
salaries are now paid;
provided that such retirement shall be evi-
denced by a satisfactory certificate approved by the Supreme Bench
of Baltimore City, directed to the Treasurer of Baltimore City, ad-
vising him of the retirement of said bailiff and that said retirement
is in accord with the provisions of this section. Nothing in this para-
